    Hi,
I make all kinds of chutney, very often, and I only ever use ordinary jam jars. I put 2/3 layers of cling film over the jar top before screwing the lid on. This protects the metal lids from corrosion from the vinegar in the chutney.
So far, no problems, and no poisoned family and friends...and easily years down the line !! Give it a try.:blushing: :blushing:

Oh, I do this too - I used to work in a paint factory and when we made experimental resins and glues and we did the cling film trick to stop the lids getting stuck to the jars :D I only ever use ordinary jam jars too for chutney making (sterilised in the oven, or pressure cooker before I broke it), but IKEA sell the nice ones with the clip lids I think. cel x

  • Ikea sell the jars your after for £1 each
They even do a 2 litre one for £2.

I'm happy with mine I got.
Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:
