Good eveing everyone - I hope you are all ok.
I have just spent 2 hours trawling through the search facility, trying to find a very simple excel spreadsheet for mortgage payments. There were alot of threads with strange formulas and numbers but I am not very computer literate! I tried to create my own following some advised from a couple of threads but nothing happened!!!
SO......
I was hoping someone had a basic spreadsheet that they used and would be happy for me to use.
ideally it would have 9 columns
-date/month
-interest rate
-begining balance
-monthly payment (that I could input)
-overpayment
-capital paid (for that month)
-interest paid (ditto)
-end balance
-cumulative interest
I did download one from super mortgage guide but you put in the initial details and then you cant adjust it month by month which is what I'm after.
I apologise for the long post but I would be eternally grateful if there is someone who can help.
thank you
jenny

Hi Guys,
I do have a spreadsheet that i've created...i think it pretty much covers what your looking for!
It doesn't let you manually input the monthly payment, but just play around with the amount you wish to borrow and over what period to calculate that figure.
The cumulative interest you can calculate by adding up the totals from column D.
Just input your figures on the right hand side shaded boxes...amount borrowed, interest rate and period in months.
The only thing you will have to be careful of is the initial interest rate. Currently its set up for a 2 year fixed deal, but if you ammend to a longer/shorter period then you will have to manually alter the remaining mortgage amount (cell J4). Its linked to cell B27 as this is the amount due after 24 months but if, for example, you have a 3 year fixed deal, then link it to cell B36 (amount due after 36 months) etc etc...
Hope this is clear enough.
Trouble is i cant figure out how to insert excel attachments to these forums, but if you email me, i can send it to you.

Hello - I've just knocked one up as well.
It's different to Jamie's in that it will not calculate what you need to pay but it will let you key in all the payments and over-payments you want to make and it will tell you how long that will take to pay off the whole thing and how much interest you have paid. It will cope with changes in interest rates too.
So it's good for modelling savings made by over-paying. (Which is what I needed it for).
I don't know how to link to a file either so my email is robnmorris@hotmail.com if you want me to send it.
Rob.Regards
