well yes that is a slightly different situation. i dont mind spiders but knowing one had possibly escaped would make me wonder when it would turn up.

Your poor OH. I don't like dogs either, they frighten me. I did the avon for a while and had to stop going to some customers houses as i was terrified of the dogs. I know its their house, but i dont want a terrier nipping my ankles nor a massive dog jumping up. one house we went to see had a friendly dog which kept trying to hump my OH's leg. luckily he likes dogs (not like that haha!) so i kept trying to laugh it off and escape whichever room the randy dog was in. people say its best to keep calm and be friendly to dogs, but from someone who tried this and had her hand stuck in a rottweilers jaw, i'll stick to goldfish thanks!! !

I have a rather over enthusiatic staffordshire bull terrier, but I wouldn't just let her jump at people or annoy them, esp people I didn't know! You have to appreciate that not everyone is going to enjoy being slobbered over as much as you. :p

The last place I viewed was pretty awful: dirty dishes; frying pan full of oil on the hob; clothes all over the bedroom.

I ended up making an offer and having it accepted though (albeit at 19% below asking). If someone can't see past the most superficial of issues like that they'll be househunting for a long time.

some people, like my dh, are very allergic to cats. If he goes in a house where a cat has been then he starts wheezing. He isn`t the only one with a cat allergy. The cat issue is not superficial for some people and it isn`t food bowls that is off-putting but signs of cat esp in the bedroom

My dd recently sold her house and she has 2 dogs but the buyer would never know. Each time anyone came to view, all signs of the dogs were removed and I shampooed and re-shampooed the carpets before completion

Is there any other sort of Staffie??? We have two and on all but one of our viewings the kids have either taken them out or sat in the car with them (staffs won't walk in the rain either!)

Funnily enough the guy who did put in an offer, was the one who was there with the dogs, although I shut them between two rooms so they didn't bounce on him..... Unfortunately although we accepted their offer, their buyer has now pulled out so we are back on the market as of today....sigh.

Best story I can tell you was re my involvement in the sale of the flat upstairs, I ended up letting a lot of the viewers in for the seller (as I am at home during the day) One time I was expecting my Mum and the bell rang, so I answered it and discovered the Estate Agent for upstairs instead. I had both of my sons pet rats (now in rat heaven) sitting on my shoulders, and they were BIG boys. I thought the Agent was going to faint...I've never seen a man go such a funny colour before. The girls in his office obviously thought it was a hoot - they sent me a bottle of wine!:rotfl:

Has anybody actually SOLD a house in the last few weeks?

I'm starting to think I might be here forever.

    Regards

    Kate

...Been on the market for two weeks, 5 viewers, not bad going for a £400K house. However, the feedback we got from the last viewer yesterday has really upset me. I am a total neat and tidy freak and you could view my house without giving me notice, but this lady said that the house wasn't presented properly. What had happened ... I'd forgotten to pick up the cat food bowls that are in one of the back bedrooms -the cats come in through a window up a flat roof. This lady specifically mentioned that the cat bowls were lying on the floor. To be honest, looking back I forgot to pick them up and put them away on Saturday, but the couple never mentioned it - nor to me or the estate agent, maybe to each other I suppose!

Am I being overly sensitive? I know in this current market you have to make more of an effort, I truly am an incredibly tidy and clean person, I just forgot about the bowls - and they turned up early!

I'd appreciate your feedback on this - good or bad! Thanks.

Yeah, ignore the woman, as others have said. But behind it all, there was probably a comment made, which the estate agent would be inclined to ignore, as per all the other posts. However, to the EA, it was worth quoting the woman to you [ so that the woman took the blame, not the EA] - as a way of reminding you about how to present the property

I never understand some people, obviously theses are your possessions that you will be taking with you so why on earth are cats dinner plates going to affect their potential property?

    Don't worry about them

!!!!!! I'm very allergic to cats, I viewed loads of houses with visible cats. I'm certainly not going to ring ahead and ask what pets the owners have. Its never been an issue because I would thoroughly clean the house before moving in.

Oh Incisor, I'm sure the estate agent was giving me the feedback to make sure I remove the bowls at any other viewings!

Loved the spider story! I have a rottie so I'm absolutely paranoid about her going near to anyone to be honest, especially a viewer!

Kate, I work in property and we haven't sold a house for a couple of weeks, albeit I work for one of the more upmarket companies. I've no viewers booked at all, good for me as I can't be bothered with them at the moment!

    Don't be upset one bit.

You'll be better off not dealing with a buyer of this mentality anyway...think yourself lucky, lol
