Should I be upset at this viewer's comment?

It matters not if you try and fail, And fail, and try again; But it matters much if you try and fail, And fail to try again.0 -

We are not allowed to be other than PC about these things. Doesn't stop it affecting house values, etc.
Especially when there are neighbour disputes that have to be declared.0 -
TBH one of my pet(!) hates is cat/dog food bowls out on show, especially in a kitchen, and on reflection probably even more so in a bedroom. The viewer may have been the same, but you really cannot please everyone. i have a friend who hates toys on show and another who is the same about coats in a hallway.........so we are all different. Don't fret about it.
But why would it put you off buying the house?

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
I would not consider buying a house with cat bowls in a BEDROOM. Disgusting0

What if it was the perfect house? They aren't selling you the cat bowls or insisting you keep their cat when you move in.
We have cat bowls in the living room and sometimes in the spare room (which is the "cat room")
I really don't get the problem! Its only cat food, its not dirty.
We also have cat litter trays in the house as we have indoor-only cats - wonder what that viewer would say to that  :rotfl:Proud meowmy of four fuzzy cats0 -
i can see the problem myself tbh, the fact is youve seen it like that, with cat bowls in a certain place, if it puts you off, it puts you off, theyve not come to see how you live, theyve come to see the house, so make sure its presentable.
you know the time when ppl are coming, and youve said they came 15 minutes early, well i cant really see you doing too much in such a short time, tbh i look for the house to be overly clean and tidy as i want a good idea of how my things are going to look in a house, if its too messy, that can easily detract you from really seeing the house at its full potential x0 -

Why on earth not? They won't be there when you move in!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I wouldn't be put off by food bowls, I don't think the viewer was serious about your house from the start.
You are doing the right thing by keeping it clean and tidy and by taking the dog out for viewings. My DH is petrified of dogs, even tiny ones and the amount of houses we have viewed with huge dogs jumping up. The owners usually say when they open the front door - you don't mind dogs do you, but it isn't a question. One property that had three alsatians, DH refused to go in, he just walked back to the car and I viewed alone. Worst animal house was one where the smallest bedroom had shelves all around with glass cages and each one had tarantulas in  , there were loads. I asked how do you know none have escaped because there were so many and she said because they all had names and she'd PROBABLY notice! I could not buy a house where I'd be searching everywhere all the time for huge spiders.0 -

well yes that is a slightly different situation. i dont mind spiders but knowing one had possibly escaped would make me wonder when it would turn up.
Your poor OH. I don't like dogs either, they frighten me. I did the avon for a while and had to stop going to some customers houses as i was terrified of the dogs. I know its their house, but i dont want a terrier nipping my ankles nor a massive dog jumping up. one house we went to see had a friendly dog which kept trying to hump my OH's leg. luckily he likes dogs (not like that haha!) so i kept trying to laugh it off and escape whichever room the randy dog was in. people say its best to keep calm and be friendly to dogs, but from someone who tried this and had her hand stuck in a rottweilers jaw, i'll stick to goldfish thanks!! !

I viewed a house a few months ago where the AGENT wouldn't go in because of the dogs.
(Owner wasn't there, so I went in, put the dogs in their kennel and then got on with it.)0
