Which searches count?
Hi,
I have just looked at my credit score after managing to get it up to a fairly good score of 930 (Was 709). I applied for a loan and was worrying a little and thought I would reassure myself by checking my new and good credit score.
Looks like I was wrong.
William hill ad various bookmakers have been searching my credit account when I have been signing up to view my electoral roll data.
Will these searches affect my application for credit? These searches I know nothing of (Thought I had had 1 search in 6 months) have totalled to around 6 in as many months.
My credit card I have cleared and cancelled has also been left on there as having £2500 available balance. This makes my credit score a lot worse off than when I decided I would heed advice and begin sorting out my debts etc.
Will these searches have ruined any chance of an additional loan with my current lenders?
Cheers
Sam

The searches made by William Hill will purely be for identification and anti money laundering purposes.
They cannot be seen by lenders searching your file and will have no bearing on a credit decision.
