Purchasing a new car and taking it back?

OK, I have a friend that has been a complete and utter plonker - I am so cross with her I could shake her

She has got debt problems and at the weekend, for some bizarre reason, she parted with a credit card and bought a practically brand new car  from a main dealer. 72 hours later and realisation has dawned - can anyone advise me, I said that surely she could take the car back. If I bought a top from Next and 3 days later I changed my mind, I could take it back and get my money back? Can she do the same? She says she can't because there isn't actually anything wrong with it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A top from next is a tad different to a brand new car!

I have no advice to offer, except, don't use that analogy if you go back to the dealer.

Has she actually bought the car outright or is it on finance?

Probably best to check through the paperwork and the terms and conditions of sale. Our car had a cooling off period of 14 days provided we didn't put above a certain mileage on the clock.

I think in the first instance go back to the dealer asap and just explain the problem, you will only get a yes or no and from there you can plan your next move.
TBH if the dealer does take it back it will be at a loss to your friend as it now has one more owner so is even more 'used' than it was.

    Go back and ask.!

Can't be much help on how to return the car but, I am wondering if your friend has bi-polar disorder , formerly known as manic depression, which can make people spend uncontrollably. I have it myself, but it is under control. I know many people who have got themselves into dreadful debt because its a symptom of their illness.

Might be worth exploring further, and good luck getting the car back
