A & L suck bigtime

Hi Everyone,
Just thought I would get some opinions on this one. This month has been quite difficult, several large bills, that we just covered. Now last night I had gone overdrawn by 92pence. I tried to move £1 from my savings to main account but didnt have enough in the savings account to ensure the minimum remained in there? (BS Me thinks:mad:)
Today I find I am not £25.92 overdrawn. I'm assuming the £25 is courtesy of A&L Robbers are us.
Now am I being unreasonable in saying being charged £25 (potentially £50 if I pay some money in tomorrow) is both exceptionally excessive and also pretty bad as that is all our money we have until payday (Friday)
I suspect if it goes to court I would win, as that is just excessive in the extreme, being charged £50 for going over my overdraft for no more than 48 hours.
Any thoughts?

I may be wrong but I think that most bank charges relate to the previous months transactions. Therefore you going overdrawn yesterday will have nothing to do with the £25 charge- that must be from last month.
Either way, I'd have a chat with them and explain your difficulties, you never know they could be sympathetic and might even wave the fee for your 0.92p. Good luck0 -
i totally agree with you but unfortunately they all seem to do that, natwest did exactly the same to me last monthMoney doesn't make you happy so I'm skint but cheerful :beer:0

When I had an A&L account (before i got fed up with their unreasonable charges!) they always seemed to apply the charge straight away.OD £lots Egg Card £329.04 Parents £650 Sofa £741.780

Same here - I just got by them. Something went out and out me £1 over drawn. I put somemoney in and something else when out that put me over drawn by £2. Stupidly, i didnt put any more money in, so as well as the £25 charge, I got hit with £5 A DAY for being £2 overdrawn ..... be claiming it all back when they lose the second round this week.No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

The savings account transfer is a red herring - you were already overdrawn when you tried to make the transfer, and the £25 paid item charge had already been incurred.
A&L savings accounts have a £1 minimum balance.0 -
Well people, good news. It really does depend who you talk to. Because im crap with pin numbers and such I phoned complaints dept and went through traditional security as it where. Then they refunded it straight away, no arguments, no warnings not to do it again, no nothing. So perhaps people who go £1 overdrawn might like to use this in the future. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Or maybe they could set up an agreed overdraft limit to avoid the problem arising in the first place?0
