Hi textqueen,
Welcome to MSE and in particular to the Old Style board!:hello:
The best thing to do is have a browse through the board and try to change a little bit at a time. These threads are probably the best place to start:
Welcome to Old Style
The complete getting started collection
For lots of meal ideas have a look through this thread:
The Complete Cooking Collection
For help with cleaning, these older threads should help:
Cleaning section of the mega index
Good luck and if you need any help, please come back and ask as there is always someone who is around to help.

I find managing my time is the most important thing. I like to do little and often IYKWIM and so keep up with the house work by doing quick vac round and dust every day...bathrooms mon & friday and changing beds on a thursday.Washing is a daily battle with five in the house so just keep up the best I can. If I leave things too long they seem so much more work. I bet I only spend around 30 mins a day on housework which gives me loads of time for the kids ,cooking , baking or gardening etc. As for simple recipes check out the indexed collections ..theres more stuff there than you can shake a stick at!JAN GC- £155.77 out of £200

This may sound silly to many of us, but some people just don't think about it - remember that your washing machine can be 'getting on with it's job' while you're actually doing something else!
My daughter was quite surprised when I told her to put the WM on while the kids are having their breakfast; by the time she gets back from the walk to school, it's done and ready to hang out/put on airer - she just hadn't thought about doing that at all! I've also told her to put a load on in the evening and then hang on the airer overnight - will probably get up to find most of it dry! But I can understand that she may not want to do that, specially if she's had a loud/rough day with the kids. The noise of the WM in the evening, isn't always what you want to hear if you're trying to relax!0 -
Hi
I've just started home cooking after living on ready meals for years, I'm amazed at how simple it really is, the recipes on this site are so easy to follow, wish I'd have started years ago.
Good luck.Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.
All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional0 -

I have eco 7 so I'll always put mine on before bed. We're upstairs so we don't hear it. Then I hang it out first thing in the morning.Taking baby-steps :beer:0 -
You should be careful putting the washing machine and dishwasher on before bed as they can set on fire. We had the fire service come round to advise on these things and they said it's very common......0

I do prefer to put the WM on when I'm actually in the house - once had one that came detached from the outlet under the sink - one flooded kitchen - but a sparkling clean floor afterwards
