300 o2 texts without topping up!!

Dont know if this has already been posted, but did you all know that you dont have to top up the free o2 sim cards with £10 to activate the free texts?!
Dont know yet if you actually get the full 300, but i just put the sim card in and started texting straight away! Try it!!

No the ones from about 6 weeks ago. Tried 3 of them and it worked on them all.

You can stick the new card in download a game, ringtone & wallpaper from 02, plus text for free till around 6am the following morning, then just throw the card away

when you top up with 10 pounds, how long do the 300 text last for? do you have to put 10 pounds every month? and sometimes the sim cards dont work any advice is appreciated

Hi Ace
The 300 texts are valid for one month. You don't have to top up every month but you won't get the free text until you do. Sometimes I have about £9 credit left so I don't top up till the following month.I've never had a problem with the sims not working though, so I can't help you with that.

It might sound sad, and I bet loads of you have heard of it before, but i'll post it anyway. I haven't tried it myself either, simply can't be bothered! It's the way to get your 300Texts Allowance, and 1MB GPRS without paying the £10 each month! These are the exact words from the ebooks are selling on ebay (I didn't buy it, found them on the net a whileback!).

HOW TO GET FREE TEXTS WITHOUT EVER TOPPING UP AGAIN

1. Firstly you must have an O2 sim card installed into your mobile phone. This must be the 300 text per month sim that requires a minimum top up of £10 per month to get the free texts).
2. Initially, you will need to top up your card with £10.00 for this to work. If you already have a card that has previously been topped up, and you can remember the date when you topped up, you will not need to top up further.
Once you have topped your sim card up with £10.00 you will find you have the following:
- £10 worth of talk time
- 300 wap minutes
- 300 texts
3. IMPORTANT: Take notice of the date on your mobile phone when you top up.
4. Use your phone as normal for that month or until you run out of texts credit.
5. Once you have run out, reset the date on your mobile phone to the date when you last topped up.
DO NOT USE YOUR PHONE THAT DAY!!
(Meaning don't make a connection with anyone with your mobile but leave turned on!! – advise friends and family not to call, or direct calls straight to voicemail)
6. The next day, you can change your date settings back to normal, and use your phone again.
7. Now all you have to do is wait for the new month and you will receive a message from o2 saying "THANK YOU FOR TOPPING UP, YOU NOW HAVE YOUR FREE 300 TEXT MESSAGES"
8. IMPORTANT!! Note where in the month you run out of texts, You only get a max of 300 texts per month so make sure you don't run out halfway through the month as you will have to wait till the start of the new month to get your free 300 texts.
9. ENJOY!

IF YOU ARE WORRIED IN ANY WAY ABOUT USING THIS METHOD, THEN READ THIS:
There is no law / rules that prevent you from changing the date on your own phone. This method works due to some form of fault at O2’s end – you have actually done nothing wrong, and nothing illegal, so there is no need to worry.

Hi Matty,

That only worked with the older sims.

bt cottoned on to this and stopped it with the later sims.

I beleive that you can still buy the older sims from the net if you look.

This method DEFINITELY doesn't work with the later sims.
