Hi
I have reeived a letter form the above company demanding that I pay £847.57. Now whilst this debt could be mine from my student days I cannot remember ever oweing anybody this sum of money.
I have read some of the very long post regarding this company but wish to just clairfiy a few things.
Firstly I have read that if my debt is over 6 years old then I cannot be taken to court for it - is this right
Secondly, there is a number of posts regarding a payment of £1 - a so called stat fee. What is this and why would i pay it.
Finally, what should i do about this letter, should i ignore it or should I send them a letter asking what it is all about
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Yes if the debt is older than 6 years old, they cannot chase you for it. There is another thread somewhere about Aktiv Kapital buying up old debts that can't be enforced and bullying people into paying up. I think the £1 fee is for asking for a copy of the credit agreement that you originally signed with the lender. If you go to the national debtlines website, you can download a letter to send them if you believe the debt is statute barred (older than 6 years), see if you can find the other thread about AK as well and have a look.

I would just reply , using the referance number they use , nothing else .Just say you have no knowledge of this alleged debt and suggest they check detail with their client ! Do not sign letter or phone them !0
