When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
Hello to all the regulars and any new posters! :hello::hello::wave::wave:
Hope you all had a good DFW weekend! We had a pretty low key one - did some DIY/painting, BBQ'd etc. Our hamster died sadly, so we didn't feel much like going out (he was an old thing though, well past his expected lifespan, and died in his sleep we think. A good life.).
Today, I have/will:
- done piggy clicks (3 today, hurrah)
- checked online banking
- did and paid in expenses so I can pay off work stuff in full on a credit card before I get any interest charges
- transferred some money to savings (aka, the pay my loan off in full sooner fund)
- accepted a MS job for today (have 2 to do tonight now)
- will check quidco as well in a minute (just to keep an eye on!)
- brought lunch into work
- Will check for more MS jobs later & add any further updates
I did splurge and buy a £20 (with postage) amazing bird house for our garden this weekend. Although that doesn't sound very DFW, I have been eyeing it up for weeks instead of buying it immediately to be sure I really wanted it, and have really thought about spending the money on it - and I looked at a lot of other cheaper ones too in case I found something else I liked as much. It doesn't sound like a big deal but as an impulsive shopper, it's a big change in my shopping habits.

So sorry to hear of lossI had 3 hamsters at one point and when they died I bought little gift boxes and filled them with bedding to use as coffins:embarasse I have put tiny rose bushes to mark where they are buried ( I know I'm a complete soppy mare:o ) I used to love watching them run around in their exercise balls in the garden. I had one kamikaze (sp?) hamster that would always head for the drain and get stuck:D
