Is it really all that bad?

Spoke to the estate agents over the weekend and she said 'It's really not as bad as some people make out.' The Media are blowing it out of proportion.
That's alright then! Once those pesky media start writing about something else (Big Brother?) then the economy's sure to pick up!
Look at the facts - lowest level of mortgage provision for years, lowest levels of house sales for years, estate agents closing, major housebuilders (Persimmon) stopping ALL BUILDING; Taylor-Wimpey laying off ONE THIRD of its staff...does this look like a market that is going to start booming anytime soon?
OK things MIGHT get better if the UK suddenly discovers something amazing, like oil in the Pennines or gold in the Chilterns, or if world banks suddenly realise the pass-the-parcel game of collateralised debt obligations was actually a really good idea which they should give another go, but until they do, we're in for a rough ride, and the media can say what they like.'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.' Quentin Crisp0 -
The media just pass the message on quicker...that's all.0
