  • It would be helpful to know, why do you need another key and reprogramming ?

If it's due to loss/theft, we had to change ours last year. It was nowhere near £125. My tip would be to phone a couple of Renault garages as their prices vary quite a bit.
  • Went out walking this week with friend she asked me to put her keys in my bag two lots. when we got back only had one, no car key we went back and looked but could not find them. Hour later I went to put some signs up as I parked there they were on a seat. How luckly is that if that was any of you who put them there thanks saved as a lot of money.

In the 5 years we’ve had the van, we’ve had at least one new key every year, fortunately they have been covered under warranty. Unfortunately it’s just over 12 months since we had the last one replaced. On all of the keys, there is a button on the PCB which is what you press on the outside case. The button detaches from the PCB. Each new key has a transponder that needs programming by a Renault dealer to integrate into the electronic immobiliser.

In the North East, Reg Vardy have a bit of a monopoly on Renault dealerships.

  • You could get the key from Ebay. I have checked Autodate and it says that

"Replacement Keys can only be programmed using diagnostic equipment"

So look like only renault or a garage with diagnostic equipment will be able to do it

try there for instructions on how to program in a new key. if ebay really can't turn up a key for you (i'd find that quite surprising!) try contacting a few scrappies to see if they'll sell you one

Haven't a clue about car keys, I always thought the key was for that one car only ie like a front door key.

    Doh!

That will allow you to unlock the car but wont work with the immobiliser

I sell second hand keys, if you send me a pic of the key i might be able to help

I may need one too for when I get my clio so I will keep a note of your user name just in case I do need one.
