Abbey offers coming out of promotional rates

Hello

I'm about to have a conversation with the Abbey to see what they offer us as we'll be coming coming out of a special 2y tracking rate in September. Does anyone have experience on this? I find Abbey a lot less competitive than it used to be (perhaps they rely more than others on secularisation) but it'd be good to know before calling whether they're likely to offer us anything better than they advertise.

20% LTV and no missed payments, etc.

Unfortunately Abbey are notorious for not offering good deals to existing customers, I myself remortgaged away from them in October, they offered me a discount of 0.1% on their SVR, say no more! I'm not sure how the credit crunch has changed their behaviour though so always worth an ask, make sure you give yourself plenty of time.

    Not really.

Alex, ask for the retention team phone number. You will get a special deal.

Abbey don't normally offer any fantastic deals to persuade you to stay. However one of my clients got offered a decent deal last week. Think it was 5.75% fixed for 3 years +£999 fee.

Spoke to them last week. They offer products not directly available but on the trackers and fixed they were worse than many others available so off we go.

    Hi Alex69

Can you be a bit more specific on exactly what rates they offered you. I am interested because my deals ends in October and when I phoned them a few weeks ago they told me they were only able to hold rates for 3 months so to ring again in July. Seems they have at least offered you something earlier than this.

Would be really interested to know what rates they have offered you.

    Many thanks
