Freeview HDR at Tesco!

:T Been on the lookout for a twintuner Hard Disk Recorder for a while - picked one up in Tesco today for £80! Has 160g memory, and a free 1month trial of top-up tv!

And I paid for it on my Sainsburys Visa card, so I get both Nectar and Clubcard points for buying it!

Yay! :T

I assume this is the Thomson Top Up TV Anytime box?

We bought one in December for £80 - on our second one now but it's spot on (first one wouldn't record past 60 hours free with the TUTV stuff turned off)

Does that mean that you got the first one replaced under Warranty, Kilty? Did you have any problems exchanging it?

By all accounts I would be wary of using the "free" one month trial of TUTV due to some difficulty cancelling it but apart from that its a good box and I paid the same back in November.

Oh well, looks like I'm late in the day for this one...... still seems a good deal compared to some of the prices out there....
And we're thinking of taking out the £10 monthly subcription for top-up tv - the kids're a little too used to nickelodeon and the cartoon network.....
God forbid they should watch something a little less banal, eh!

I've never had any problems returning anything to Tesco and never had to "invoke" the warranty.

vwjo, not late with it at all, it was on offer at the back end of the year and then increased in price again but I noticed them back in my local store recently at the reduced price. I'd certainly recommend it and especially once I found out how to switch of all the TUTV stuff and stop it downloading 5 mins of this and that :)

Thanks Edinburghglass - I was half expecting for some mean sort to come along and shoot me down in flames....

Ever since I started lurking these boards I'm reluctant to spend £80 on anything! So it's nice to know we've got a bargain!

:p Beats spending £40 a month on sky+, and with a bit of luck this machine might actually record something properly once in a while! So sick of sitting down with a glass of wine to watch a recorded episode of something cheesy, only to find that the the sound glitches all the way through!

And with top-up tv, I still get Spongebob Squarepants! :T

I don't know too much about the TUTV bit but have a read here...

    http://www.topuptv.com/anytime/index.html

as from what I gather it actually downloads the TUTV stuff rather than you tuning into a specific channel so if you could find it would fill up with cartoon stuff and leave you no room to record The Apprentice for instance :)

I'd read the website, the manual and have a good play with the machine before you sign up for £10 a month!
