Sainsburys still paying you to take food away

Haven't been into Sainsburys much with all the excitement around overcharges at Tesco, but popped in last night for a few bits.
They had packs of oranges reduced from £1.49 to 20p, but also on a multibuy of buy two for £2. The till still deducts the multibuy amount, so for each 2 packs I bought the till discounted the total by 98p - a profit of 58p.
I bought 8 packs and will use them for juicing, and got "paid" £2.32.
A good one to look out for atm is chicken breasts packets @ £5.99, buy two and the till takes off £5. So if they're reduced to £2.50 or below you get them for free or better. There are quite a few of these buy 2 for £x promos there curently on meat and fruit and veg and they often get very generous with the reductions later in the evening.
Probably a good idea to make sure you buy enough other stuff to pay something.

I am amazed that Sainsburys haven't got the system to correct this over the years. It a great loophole when you ge the chance. Thanks for reminding me Addy I am going there today and will look out for this.0

My Sainsburys have a new system that spots it- the reduction stickers have barcodes and you get the reduced price off. Thanks for the reminder Addy. Went today.l Got 2 for 1 paw paws reduced and got the magazine. It has £5 off Gillian McKeith stuff- if that works in Tesco it will be a nice voucher to have!0

I don't really use Sainsbury's (can't bear their car park!), but did pop in last week when Pizza Express Pizzas were two for a fiver (usually £3.85 each). Don't know if that's a long-term offer, or just last week's. But I bought a couple that were reduced to £1.10 each, and they paid me 50p to take them off their hands.
Might nip in this afternoon, and see what theyre giving away today!!

got organic sprouting broccoli today 39p for the 2 when discounted the multi buy option, much better than paying £2.99 for a stick of organic broccoliGive blood - its free0

Got a nice deal on tear and share bread from the bakery reduced to 10p- got £1.96 back for 4. So maybe my store's new system isn't quite so hot after all...0

I dont think its a loophole, more of a legal requirement. Even if the items are reduced, if there's a sign saying something like... "Buy 2 Save £5.00" then that it was must happen at the tills, irrespective of whether the item has been reduced or not.0 -

I think this is right where they use that wording. Although more often the promotions say buy two for £x - where £x is more than the two reduced together would cost, so in those instances they wouldn't be required to keep the multibuy reduction.
Tesco's system used to apply the extra in such instances but now they've altered it so that it only applies extra reduction to ensure that the 2 for £x does only work out at £x or less.
AFAIK reduced BOGOFS work still but only at the reduced price in both stores.0 -
At my local store, they put the BOGOFs through at 2p each. I guess their system would deduct the full price if they put them through in the usual way.
