Dell A920 - Slash your printing costs

This thread is aimed specifically at Dell A920 printer users.
PLEASE can we restrict posts to focus on this printer model .
Why?
Well, Dell A920 users are being stiched up when it comes to print ink costs and the best way to drive down costs is for all owners of this model to pool our knowledge on costs/options etc.
I used to run an Epson printer - excellent quality and compatible cartridges cost me just a couple of pounds each on the net.
I was paying just £2 per black cartridge with 16ml of ink for that epson!
I didn't realise how lucky I was until I was "given" the Dell A920. The print quality is lower, but that aside (and it is a big aside!) it does scan/copy etc - so overall a useful tool.
Problem came of course when the black ink ran out on the Dell. I scoured the web and ended up concluding refil ink was the way forward - but alas my black cartridge has "dried" so although I have spend now on a refil ink system, I can not use it!!!
So, deep breath, that means I must buy a cartridge of black ink (gave up long time ago on ever using colour - unless I want to move down to a smaller house, with no garden, no heating, no food! LOL!).
I have read the threads so far on this subject and the prices even on this web site to date horrify me.
My answer, thererfore, is to start this thread SPECIFICALLY for the price of ink for a Dell A920 printer.
There are three options that all Dell A920 users need to know price of:
1. Dell A920 compatible ink cartridges
2. Lemxmark equivalent prices - 10N0016 (this needs you to cut something!)
3. Ink refill packs and the ml of ink provided.
So, how can this thread help all Dell A920 users?
Well, by all of us pooling our knowledge and specifying where we have found the cheapest prices for 1,2, and 3 above.
PLEASE only post if you have used and can recommend the services.
Does this sound useful?
Hopefully, it will over time save us all a small fortune.
So, would anyone care to start with their nominations for the 1,2 and 3 categories above?
Cut/paste the form below if you wish
AND ONLY POST IF YOU CAN BEAT THE PRICES ALREADY GIVEN ON THE THREAD - This way, the thread will be kept short and informative with the latest posts always giving fellow readers the lowest prices - far better for all of us than wading through endless pages when there is a high risk of the lowest costs being overlooked.
Cheers!
Mike

i found this site does a bundle of black and colour for those that dont just want greyscale pictures
http://www.pricestorm.com/moreInfo.asp?code=LEX18L3242&tabGroup=GROUP-PC&tabGrpCode=COMP1
£34.99 all in
a bit of DIY might be needed on the fastening device in your printer to hold the cartridge though although this is very easy to do0 -
Morrisons,Aldi,Netto regularly have InkJet refill kits for half price or BOGOF.
£3-49 for black £5-49 for coloured.
I have a Dell 720 printer and use refill kits all the time.
If you are really forced to buy a new cartridge (old one damaged or "dried up") buy the cheaper Lexmark and cut the top off the old Dell to use with it.0 -
2. Lemxmark 10N0016:(that is the lower capacity)
Cost: £12.49
From: wilkinson0 -
Black: £15.99 (inc. VAT and P&P)
Colour: £17.98 (inc. VAT and P&P)
From: http://www.findmeink.co.uk/cartridges/Dell/A920/reman/1.html0 -
Best value you will find..
Sell your printer on ebay and buy a epson cx6600 for £99 or less.
Job done and you will save a lot over the year.
ink works out at £2.60 per set of 40 -

hello, this is my first post, so I hope I am not speaking out of place and if this is already common knowledge, then please accept my apologies...
The dell a920 is a rebadged Lexmark X1180, the only difference being, is dell has put a little bit of plastic on the cartridge cover meaning you have to buy dell catrdidges.
... To make this clearer , if you look at the top of a dell cartridge, there is a raised area which looks kind of :
when you put the catridge in, you will notice a piece of plastic that sits in the gap on dell catridges. Snap this off as I have and you can use lexmark catridges.
This is what we have done at work, we have to order through viking direct, but i am SURE it would be possible to find lexmark catridges cheaper than the dell.
Hope this helps!
