ID Theft ongoing problems-please help

Please can you help, I'm almost at the end of my tether...
Last year having recently moved house, I started to receive Debt collection notices from various companies concerning catalogue accounts which I had not set up and knew nothing about.

At the same time I required a loan and I was turned down by this despite never having defaulted with payments in the past.

On investigation it was found that a woman who moved into my previous address had got hold of my name and set up numerous catalogue accounts (she actually misspelled my name and used the wrong D.O.B which made it easier for me to see on credit reports, just how she had dessimated my credit history), the police were involved but were not particularly helpful as they did not see me as a victim becasue technically no money had been directly stolen from me. However I was paying for countless phone calls, letters by recorded delivery, time, costs of accessing all three credit reports etc). They eventually visited her as one or two of the catalogue companies agreed to prosecute and seized goods which she had ordered using my name, she admitted the offences (her name was also given to me) and the police told me that she would stop though they couldnt say whether she would be formally prosecuted or not and also they told me that thet would probably never be informed of the outcome.

Throughout this time I went through a bureaucratic nightmare trying to clear my name and the whole experience caused me a great deal of worry and distress.
I sent proof to all the companies concerned that I was not living at the address when the accounts were initiated, I also had to send further documentation to prove my identity. Each time I contacted the Debt Collection agencies I was treated with hostility and when I went into my bank where I had held an account for 14 or more years, I was also treated with indifference and again turned down for an extension on my overdraft with no explanation.

I received replies from the various companies all stating that they would remove the debts from my name and eventually I thought things had finally been resolved.
My fixed rate mortagage expires in October of this year and I had been monitoring my credit reports with Experian to ensure things stayed as they should but I couldnt afford to monitor through all three Credit Report companies, I needed a good credit report to negotiate with mortgage providers.

On friday I came home from work to find that it has started again, I received another Notice of Debt Collection, again from Wescot Credit Services relating to a defaulted Freemans account, again using the misspelled name.

I called Wescot who refused to give me any details relating to the fraudulent account and I tried to explain what had happened previously again I was told that proceedings would be suspended while I provide proof etc, once I calmed down I decided to call the police again who told me that an officer would call back (they did not).
I looked through my credit reports from the original ordeal and saw that Freemans had written to me to confirm they would remove the debt from my record back in 2007, however I strongly suspect that this latest Notice relates to the same account and I am so frightened that all this is coming back to haunt me and that if the companies involved have not cleared these (approx 14) different accounts from my name, my credit history will prevent me from renewing my mortgage and I will end up homeless when none of these accounts belong to me.

I also took out CIFAS protection though they did not put the correct category on there so I will have to sort that out too.

I am waiting for IPP to call me back with a 'case worker' but I really do not know what else to do, part of me would like to go round to see the person who has used my name to order lots of plastic crap and shell suits.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I really do not want to go through this again.
