Mis-informed loan added to mortgage
Options
My wife and I wanted to add some money onto our mortgage. We spoke to an employee (I have her name) our our lender, and after numerous phone calls she told us that there were no Mortgage Advisors available for at least 2 months because of sickness/holidays/booked up. We were a little dismayed at this, but she said what we could do is apply for a loan (as she could do this), then after a couple of payments what we could do is add the loan to our mortgage and pay just the one payment. My wife and I agreed that this would be acceptable and applied for a £7,500 loan over 19 years (which is what we have left on our mortgage). After two payments of the loan we went to see our lenders again to combine the loan and mortgage, but were told that there was no way that we would be able to do this as our mortgage and loan have totally different interest rates. As you can imagine we were very annoyed and I have written twice to our lenders but with no reply. A family member has since told us that we have been grossly mis-informed by the empolyee that applied us for the loan, and that our lender shouldn't have organised a loan over 19 years anyway.
Please help.
