Saturday 17/05/08, what small dfw things will you do today???

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Hello to all the regulars and any new posters! :hello:

Will post mine in a mo once i have wrote my long list, hoping for another productive day!

Here's my list of small money saving things I do...
Monday to Friday - I always take a packed lunck to work
I choose a magazine to read in my lunch break with - the one on cheep offer or the one I have a voucher for. After reading the stories in one like pick me up , I then have a go at the puzzle page to make it last for the 5 lunch breaks.Today, Saturday - I will be putting the washing machine on - set @ 40 temp, it takes under an hour to wash and then it will be pegged out on the line. 10.30 ish I am going to car share with my daughter (her car) and go into town. Buy healthy packed lunch food for next week. Post a birthday card - bought for 30p with a second class stamp.
This afternoon I am thinking of washing some windows. I use to pay a window cleaner £15 twice a month untill I stoped it and bought the window washey things so I could do it myself.
    Best Wishes... Julie
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

    Morning everyone!

Well I finally feel human today after a week of feeling dreadful:T , which means I have a lot to catch up on! So today I will....

-Meal plan, write shopping list and go shopping.
-Go to the gym, spend nothing while I'm there.
-Breakfast and lunch from storecupboard- dinner at family so no spend on that.
    -Pigsback and surveys
-Wash at 30 and hang on drier/ line depending on weather.
-Check online banking- transfer money if necessary.

I think that's the lot, and doesn't actually look too bad!

Better crack on with it though- have a great Saturday everyone.:D

  • Hi everyone...
Feeling a bit traumatised after an expensive trip to the opticians, low key rest of the month for me! :o
Done a piggy click, checked my internet banking and made sure I had enough for opticians bill, by swapping things around... checked for mystery shops but none I fancied! Not much else, feeling the pinch at the moment and wondering if i'm pushing myself too hard - I don't have any contingency because I pay shedloads off at the start of the month and so when things crop up it throws me a bit. If I keep contingency I'll spend it though!
Have to keep thinking it's only til January... but if i slack it'll be longer.
    See you later

Hi guys, I havent posted for a few days. Here goes,
    - I got a huge payment from tax credits, going to use it to pay off my virgin balance and with whats left I have booked a holiday (sorry, but need one) and will send the rest towards egg balance
    - I chased up £48 someone owes me, hopefully will get it sometime this millenium
    - I am going to a friends for BBQ so will get free tea
    - got a free babysitter so going out (but will use my railcard to get into town, share taxi back with someone and try not to drink too fast)
    - will clean out the fridge before babysitter comes, try to find the offending item, then she might want to do it again!
    - need to checkround for pet insurance, think I put this other day but havent done it yet. If they are going to make me pay £16 a month for 2 cats, I might aswell go through quidco

Where do you live - Buckingham Palace...?!?!?!:rotfl:

£30 a month is vvvvvvv expensive.

I paid my window cleaner £6 a month (£3 each visit) but cancelled him yesterday and have washed the windows with stardrops and washing up liquid.
