Guys i need help i recently went for a loan but the bank said that i was in defalt with another loan, which i thought was strange as i hadnt had a loan in the last two years, i did a credit check and it appears that a loan i took out for new windows for my old house hadnt been paid off let me explane.

2 years ago i took out a loan for new windows for my old house when i moved i arranged with my mortgage company to pay the loan off when i move well it turns out that they didnt, and i thought that they did so i cancled my dd thinking it was paid off and happly moved to my new house none the wiser.

when i found out about the defalt i contacted the loan company who i owed the loan to but they said that when they couldent contact me they sold the loan on to another company they gave me there number so i phoned them they said they couldent track me down, which i thought was a bit strange as im on the electoral roll and they sold the loan on to another company, now this is where i have my problem they dont know who they sold it on to they have no record.
so i have a debt of £2500 a blackflaged credit status the annoying thing is that i have the money to pay it off i just dont know who i have to pay it to.

so guy's i need help who do i go to about this how do i get this debt paid off.

oh sorry about the grammer im rubbish at english

cheers
vance

you could request your credit files (the info on how to do it is on this site) and that would show who the new lending company is.

or you could complain to the financial ombudsman (details on this site also) and tell them about the last lender losing your info. the fact that you have the money to pay it is great...but it will stay on your credit file for another 6 years after you've paid it off : (

Well why not ring the mortgage company and ask them what has happened?

it turns out it wasnt the mortgage companys fault i had a financal adviser that did the paper work and it was he that didnt ask for the extra money.
at the end of the day its my fault im in this messi should have looked at all the paper work in full.
