The story goes on, and it gets worse.
The new mortgage agreement for signature did not arrive, but I got a letter saying that as part of my mortgage was covered by the Consumer Credit Act they could not make the changes that I requested.
There are 4 sub accounts - one (sub account 1) had reverted to standard rate, I wanted another fixed rate. Another sub account (Number 4) was interest only and I wanted to change this to repayment. This was all agreed back in June!
I got no joy from Lloyds TSB who suddenly said they were 'just a post box' for C&G and could not really do anything (apart from give duff advice it would appear). I rang C&G and the guy I spoke to said that to change any part of the mortgage under the CCA I would have to employ a solicitor to 'change the paperwork'. No idea how much this would cost.
I have put in a written complaint to C&G head office, asked for a full copy of the mortgage code and said that I would have to contact the Ombudsman if this was not resolved at no cost to myself. I am claiming back the £199 fee and all the extra interest incurred to date (about £300).
Anything else I should do?
PS. To get out of this mortgage would cost me £1300 in penalties due to the other sub accounts being fixed until 2007.0
