will too many searches affect my credit score?

I am awaiting a mortgage decision from Abbey and in the meantime I have checked my credit file with experian, this shows 6 searches from Abbey based on myself & my associate (spouse as joint mortgage),
Firstly: will this amount of searches have any bearing on my score and if so should I contact anyone about this.
Secondly: I have only checked experian should I also do a check on equifax to see my score& if any other searches have been carried out there?
