Bread making question :)

ok,so I use a bread maker now,and it's saved me LOADS of money, which is absolutely fab!
BUT
I wondered if anybody out there had tried making it with just SR flour?Or even just plain flour in order to save the pennies?
I only pay 48p for a bag of Strong flour, but was just curious to see if anyone out there saved more by using different flour :)

I've not tried just plain flour, but I always use about half/half strong and plain and they've turned out fine. I mainly make 50% wholemeal, so I guess it would actually be 50% wholemeal, 25% strong and 25% plain.
some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it :)

I've never tried wholemeal flour!Do you have to use a different technique for that (for the grains in it to soften?)

I always use economy plain flour in my breadmaker for ordinary white sliced type loaves and the bread is fantastic.

No, just chuck it all in. I've been using Dove's Organic Wholemeal; I've been buying it by the basket-full at reduced prices. I'm not sure why Tesco and Asda have been selling them so cheap (55p for a 1.5kg bag).

They've stopped selling it at my local Tesco now, but I got some in Asda last week - after I emptied the shelf there a few weeks ago. :o

    LOL
I keep trying to stock up before the prices start hiking up more...I know flour is getting expensive, but it still works out cheaper to make my own than buy a loaf.
