clerk to governors

Don;t know if anyone has posted this one yet. I am employed through local county council as a clerk to a governing body for a school. Basically you take the minutes for the governing body meetings, and sometimes committee meetings. You get in my case a standard contract of 54 hours per year which is for 6 mtgs and 3 agenda settign meetings. The main meetings are after in teh evening although I assume this can vary. You can be a clerk for more than 1 governing body in fact I have just started clerking for a childrens centre which is 36 hours per year.
Pay is approx £12 per hour, paid monthly. you get trained and work from home to produce the minutes etc. Most stuff is done by email and you re reimbursed for any postage etc.
Great way to earn a few quid, I get about £60 per month.
Look on your local council websites for info. Some schools recruit direct.
I enjoy it as it earns me a few quid, doesn;t interfere with school pick up etc and I am also learning more about how schools work which is interesting being a parent

Thanks for this Edwara!:T
I didn't realise that you can get paid to do this. I was clerk to the Governors for the meetings at a local school eleven years ago...OMG! was it that long ago!:o
I did it for free! Within next to no time I'd clocked up 3 meetings within a matter of weeks and I formulated agendas, minutes, letters and so on and I did all the printing at home aswell! I gave them lots of unsociable hours for the love of the school, community and even friends.
I guess things have changed and the job has been recognised as deserving pay for the services you provide.
I'm happy with the job I do now during the day but I'll check this out because I'm free most evenings and the extra dosh would come in handy!:j
Thanks again,
Magsiebee:T:money:has saved me a small fortune! Thank you.0
