ASDA contact lens now cheaper than online?

Asda Opticians has had significant price reductions, e.g. all monthly lens are now just £29 (approx) for 6 months supply. I think that's cheaper than online, at least for the more expensive, better brands. And given that Asda include free eyecare /checkups, there can't be any comparison with online sources, I suggest.

Also, 'normal' eye tests (like for glasses) are only £10 at Asda, which is pretty good, too.

George

Exactly - perhaps I should have been clearer.

    For re-assurance, please see:

Asda's online prices are even lower than the £29 (approx) which I saw in-store for 6 months supply of monthly lens. But I strongly recommend calling at a store (with optician) because of the free consultations which come with the lens purchase. Another in-store advantage is that they offer a much wider range of lens.

My original reference to Asda vs. online meant other common online sources like coastalcontacts.com in the USA and postoptics.co.uk in the UK - beware the need to pay for check-ups and/or duty and VAT with any of these, including asda-contactlenses.co.uk, actually.

Go to https://www.asda.co.uk and click on 'Your local store' button, which is second from bottom on left hand menu list on the home page. Then enter your town, postcode or whatever, The results show whether there's an optician at each store.

e.g. if I enter Slough as my town, it tells me the nearest branch with an opticians is Park Royal.

I'm amazed there hasn't been more interest shown in this thread. If you know of a better contact lens deal than this, please tell me!

Good spot. I'll check out the prices when I need some more lenses. It is a little cheaper than my current supplier - Specsaversdirect £29.60 for 6 months x monthlies.
    Not even wrong

    Thanks George

I was being silly - saw the store locator but thought it would just give me an address not details of what was at store.

My Acuvue Oasys are nearly half price there so will definitely visit when I run out.

    Thanks George

Without wishing to sound funny or desperate, what thanks? Over 244 people have looked at this thread and I would hope at least a few would find it useful. Yet not a single person has clicked on 'thanks'. How mean can you get?! I sometimes think this forum brings out the worst side of everyone's nature. Compare it with eBay, for example, where glowing positive feedback is positively overflowing. I'm close to moving on to 'read only' here and not wasting my time flagging up any more money saving ideas which I happen to come across. Perhaps the 'thanks' idea was a bad idea in the first place. It establishes a sort of 'class system'. How much do you have to save people before they thank you? £1000? I know I've killed my chances now, but I'm so surprised.
