been to see CAB about debt and creditors saying i must pay full payments

lats month i went to see debt advisor at CAB as with being on benefits cant keep up full payments anymore and run a house and 2 kids

she advised me to do a dmp and she would write to all my creditors to get full and final balance and to go back and see her in a month (which i cant get appointment as she is fully booked for next week/ fortnight )

in the meantime to offer a token payment of £5 to each creditor

i have had a reply from a few of them rejecting it already

Barclaycard visa who says i MUST keep up the agreed repayment of £60 a month and they will not stop interest or reduce it

3 catalogues ... who say i must make full payment including arrears by next week or will get £12 charges added on

and another studio who will accept lower payments but only on their terms
and i must pay in full or return items unused that i have bought over the last 4 months ...before this can commence

cant get appointment with debt advisor for next week /fortnight although they say they will try and get her to call me

what do i do about this months payments .. send them same letter as before saying explaining my situation & i have been to see cab and they advised me to stop full payments untill she had heard back from them

anyone been in this situation

If you cant afford to dont pay, it is not a crime to owe money(unless it to a govt agency of some discription!)

Send them the same letter and explain that your waiting for appt, they (the credit industry) have been warned to help, sound like its falling on deaf ears,

If they start hasselling you before the appt send them the template letter for everything in writing, last thing you need is a load of annoying phone calls from people not prepared to listen,

    Hi

The letters are standard computer generated letters, nothing really to worry about, you've informed them you cannot make the agreed payments, nothing much more you can do at this stage.

Tomorrow (Friday) contact one of the debt free charities, click here for the list and take their advice.

As regards paying £5.00 pm, if you cannot make this payment, reduce it to what you can afford, but make sure you pay at least £1.00 to each creditor.

    Any other questions, ask away,
Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional
