please help debts getting too much-cant pay full amount each month

I am struggling to pay my debt with cahoot which is currently at £160 a month. My maternity pay is ceasing soon and I can not go back to work due to my partners ill health. I have emailed Cahoot saying that I am having difficulty paying and that I have not missed a payment for 2 years and they have emailed me back saying that they are sorry to hear about my money problems and to call them. What do you think they will suggest when I ring them? I have been really worried about doing this and was wandering if anyone has been in this situation before- thank you so much for any advice x

    Hi desperateforhousingadvice

First of all, try not to worry too much, there will be a way out of this, well done for posting, there will be plenty of good advice coming your way from people that have been in your situation.

Is this the only debt you have or are there any others?

I would recommend that you give a call to one of the organsiations in this list: link
They are free to use and give good advice, they have seen every problem going so they will be experienced in what you are going through.

They will talk to you about what you are able to afford. To work this out you will need to do a SOA (statement of affairs - there is a SOA calculator at makesenseofcards.co.uk) and will talk you through your options. Then you can phone Cahoot knowing what sorts of arrangements might be appropriate for you and them.

Never fear - there is always a way to sort this out

    Good luck
