Thank you for that wonderful judgement of my character hostman. I feel I have no option but to :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I am not 'inept at making financial decisions', I am in a very similar situation to SpendCurber, and if you read the rest of my post, its as good advice as anyone else's.......lets face it, none of us have got a crystal ball!
As for your negative equity - does it matter if you arent ever going to move house?? NO! the market only matters to the price of your house if you buy and sell
..and on that note Dr Jamtart will just skulk off to the financially inept corner now!
Are you one of the Doctors who force me to wait for over an hour at a GP surgery? Are you one of the Doctors at my local GP surgery who don't work Wednesday's and go home at 2PM on Friday's?
Inept in my book.
Anyway, enough of character assassination's and sweeping generalisations - I apologise if I'm causing any offence to the hard working Doctors, what little of you who exist.
The OP wanted to sell within five years. What happens if the OP has a child and needs more space in two years? The OP has mortgaged up to the eyes, is in negative equity and cant move. The OP will be stuck.
Sure, if you're NEVER going to sell it doesn't matter. But this person isn't going to be there for ever.0 -
i amended my post hotman, it didn't say exactly what i meant it to say, it should be clearer now that if the OP was moving in the next 5 years, then my advice would be not to buy. if she was never ever moving and loved this house and wanted to die in it aged 124 then my advice would be to buy!
..and no, not one of those doctors :P
:ABeing Thrifty Gifty again this year:A

That's the problem on here.
It's a great place for information, but house prices are such an emotive subject people do get carried away.
Personal abuse of someone because of their views is never acceptable and I don't blame you for leaving.
That said, most people on here are friendly and genuinely try to help so please don't let one poor experience put you off.
Good luck anyway.0 -

The OP said they want to:
- rent the flat out in 5 years
- buy a house with a partner
Neither would be possible with negative equity on this first property.0 -
Stop spending so much time at the Doctors. Are you one of the Doctors who force me to wait for over an hour at a GP surgery? Are you one of the Doctors at my local GP surgery who don't work Wednesday's and go home at 2PM on Friday's?
Does it matter when a GP's not working in the middle of the working week? No.
And if you don't work, you've got all the time in the world to go.0
