Sat Nav help required!

I would like to purchase a Sat Nav for working purposes. It must be reliable, needs to have the stationary camera detector on it and I would prefer if it was able to connect to the internet to download upgraded maps on a regular basis (if this is possible) as I work on new building sites that are not always on the map!
I want to spend about £100 ex. VAT but would be happy for lower. It would be used a lot so would need to have a quick connection, etc. I've been looking at the Tom Tom XL GB for £125 + VAT. Is this the best for this price or is there another model that is better but cheaper?
THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

The standard Tom Tom GB & Eire (not the XL wide screen) is around £85+ VAT. Can be updated from their site and has camera warning.0 -
Would I be right in thinking that there are some cheap sat-navs about, but they could have dated software installed on them, in which case it would be false economy wouldn't it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. I was attracted to a thread elsewhere recently, only to discover a mod had moved it. I enquired how we were expected to find it, (even though they have a search facility similar to MSE) only to be told that the word MOVED, was a link, and it took you to it's new location. Could something similar be introduced here ?.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

New Map updates will almost certainly not help you with new building sites as it generally takes a year or more to get new roads on the maps. The most recently released maps are 2008.1(Jan 2008) TeleAtlas maps used on Tomtom but don't expect miracles, as i said it takes time to compile them and there are always mistakes!! It will also depend on how up to date the postcode info is if thats how your finding places.0
