Changing Weekly Paid Job To Monthly Paid

I am currently doing a job where I am paid weekly in cash. However, it is poorly paid so I am currently looking for a better paid position (office administration). However I suspect anything I get will be paid monthly. I have debts which I am getting to grips with but dont have any savings to see me through if I get a new job and have to wait a month to be paid. I am main breadwinner and live with my daughter who cannot work due to illness. I obviously dont want to borrow any more money, and dont have any family that can help.

Any suggestions please?
Growing old disgracefully!

The first month is always the worst ...

Can you put aside a little bit each week as a buffer - this is a good idea in any case.

Although brightonman's made a good suggestion, you might not have much control over when you start, and you need to check when your first pay day would be. In a large company, if you miss the deadline for information going to payroll, they would try to put it off until the end of the following month. However you should be able to ask for an advance.

I had another thought: do you have a local Credit Union?

If you do, then go and talk to them. If you open a savings account with them, they will be able to make you a loan when you change jobs. Their rates of interest may not be the best, but you only have to save a little before you can take out a loan with flexible repayments.
