hi all jut need a bit of advice as my heads swimming around!
i was made redundant a year ago and am till waiting to get any of the money i am owed ( all a very nasty and complicated senario). i took a job about 10 miles away from where i live to make ends meet but i hate it!! here are the issues:
Its very boring and repetative.
i do not get into 9pm at night so miss putting my dd to bed or having a normal dinner.
if there is a problem and i can't be there ( dh works away or very late in week so i cant rely on him if there is a problem) its a complete nightmare.
i send dd to private nursery as thats the only place i can get her into at the moment, but her session starts at 1pm and i dont start to later so am really paying about 2 1/2hrs of a session when i dont need it!have to pay for full session obviously!
doing about a 40 mile round trip a week ( maybe 50 if i add dropping dd off) for 8 hrs work at only minimum wage.
i also have another job at my friends pub, i work some weekends or evenings to help him out, and they have offered me more hours that cover the 8 i do at my other job. the facts are:
i can almost pick and choose my hours.
if there is a problem or i need time off there is not much of an issue.
its about 2/3 minutes drive ( have to drive due to location and hours i work)from my home and my dd nursery.
bad sides i guess are:
its cash in hand
i get no holiday or sick pay
i have also applied for a job in a school so hoping i will get that (guess it wont start to september) although this job wont be ideal to my dd is in full time school its def worth it as i will the n get all the holidays and dd friendly hours!
so what do i do? do i take my notice and hand it in later today or not?
i go on holiday in 5 weeks, if i hand my notice in today i will finish the week before or shouls i hold off and so i get my holiday included in that time?
so confused on the best course of action any advice greatly appreciated!

Would you be employed by the pub or would you be essentially doing them a favour?Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Then you would be automatically entitled to holiday and sick pay. Why don't you go with the pub whilst looking for other jobs that you would want to do?Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

If you are properly employed then it wont really be "cash in hand" work, you would have to be on the books, and you should then get holiday and sick pay entitlement.
If it was me I would hold off any notice until after your holiday. How much notice do you have to give? I would include the holiday in the notice so that techincally you dont go back afterward. The pub job sounds better for you, but you need to make sure what the terms are and that you will be getting some kind of work contract to safeguard you. Check what effect it will have on your tax credits etc, make sure you go into it with yours eyes open.0 -
thanks everyone think i will go with the pub job.writing it all down makes it seem the best option right now.0
