Where can I buy these cornets?

Years ago I used to buy cornets made of wafer type stuff that were oblong shaped, just right to take a piece of ice cream sliced off a block. Does anyone remember these and if so where can I buy them nowadays? Thank you.

Are they the rectangular wafers which you made an ice-cream sandwich out of? Can you still buy ice-cream in blocks?
  • They are like a normal cone you hold in your hand only the bit the icecream goes into is oblong shaped and you cut a slice off a block of icecream (about an inch) and it slips into the cone. You can still buy blocks of icecream, vanilla or neapolitan.

    Hi saving_is_fun,

I've moved your thread across to the I wanna board to see if you can get any more suggestions of where to buy them.

I know exactly what you mean, I had those as a youngster. Being bored I searched around the web and I really don't think you are going to get any. Best bet would be to ask at an ice cream van - or a corner shop in the middle of no-where (stock dating back to 1970!)

I used to work for Iceland back about three or four years ago and I know they used to sell them then. Maybe try ringing a store?
