OH is in the kitchen making something out of lentils. I'm expecting a thick soup or something... Nice, but not very appetising on its own.
Which got me wondering, are there any bread recipes about that can be knocked up in minutes, ie while the oven is warming up?

what about soda bread, this is from the same book as the hobnobs but have never made it
450g/ 1lb plain flour
1 teasp salt
1 teas cream of tartar
1 teasp bic soda
1oz lard not sure if marg would do or oil
1/2pt milk
sift the dry ingredients rub in the lard, make a well in the centre and stir in the milk to give a soft spongy dough
knead lightly on a floured surface, shape quickly into a round cake 2 inches thick, put on a floured baking tray and score the top lightly three times with a sharp knife
bake 200oc for 35 mins
probably better recipes than that but didnt have time to look0 -
I haven't tried it, but you apparently you can make bread in a pressure cooker. I can't do those fancy links, but here's the address https://www.instructables.com/id/Easy-Bread-Anywhere:-%22Baking%22-bread-in-a-pressure-/?utm_source=related&utm_medium=footerOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0

Thanks folks, the soda bread sounds nice, so I might give that a whirl at the weekend and see how it turns out.

My late Dad used to make cracking soda-scone rounds on a round cast-iron girdle, but then my folks were from Scotland and we had one of these things for years. They were lovely fresh from the top of the stove and the next day were even nicer toasted with butter.
I have a feeling he used milk that was slightly on the 'turn' to mix the scones up with as well.I am sure someone on here will have a recipe for them0 -
that would be right about the milk Jackie i use it up making scotch pancakes up here tattie and girdle scones are popular though its usually just the pancakes i make on my girdle
this might be a better recipe for soda bread
