re your bank troubles
have you ever received a leaflet from natwest telling you that they will tell you when they'r going to charge you and how much
my bank did send me one and i thought it was the norm for all banks that they have to tell you in advance
my OH has just informed me he has received a letter telling him of charges due and that was for an amount nowhere near as high as yours
of course they should have told you
can anyone else help with all the technical bank speak to go in the letter please!
I've only ever banked with HSBC and the procedure there is to notify first by letter. Well, i opted out of the letter scheme (save paper). All my correspondace is in my online account. I log in and if theres ever any outstanding charges it is in big red bold letters, with a date that they will be taken. Normally a month ahead.
So far from natwest I have recieved nothing by post, diddley squat.
They blocked my online access so I couldnt not log in to see any charges that were being applied.
The first I knew was when I had an automated call telling me my account was -£480, Which took me a bit by shock.
Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to log onto my account and get a clearer pciture as to where the money has gone to and why.
its annoying as we have sent a couple of years putting in the over time and scrimping and saving here and there to pay off our debts. My partner was off for 9 months maternity which did not help. We finally get to a point where to debts are almost gone and we can treat ourselves. I got a new bike and my partner a new car. Even with the extra HP payments its is no where near the amount we were paying in debts. Hence why we could afford to do it, plus we have a few £'s left to treat ourselves once the bills are paid. Then somethine like this comes along.
I was aware I was only going to get paid 3 weeks wages, well not until that month. Hence asking natwest for overdraft which was refused. I did get the extra weeks wages this month which would have paid last monts bills, but that has now gone in clearing the charges.
I'll post back as soon as I know what the charges were for and how much they were.0 -
When you have a clearer picture I would be inclined to adapt one of Martin's bank charge reclaiming letters to claim your most recent charges. At least if you write you will have a record of what was sent as you don't have that with a call - banks will lie if they have to and say that they never received your call bla bla bla.
Hiope you manage to get it all sorted out, we're here to offer help and advice where we can and help you put things in perspective.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.0 -
ditto what horace said
also id leave natwest now
im with lloyds theyr good (others may beg to differ!)
they refunded charges as soon as i asked them too
actually do what itsnever2late said and keep natwest ticking with a 10p deposit everynow an then
make the robbers work;):)
yeah please keep us updated
itll help alot of people xI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
I have just adapted one of Martin's reclaiming letters for one of my mates - she can fill in her own address and bank details but I have done the rest. I also helped her transfer a credit card debt to a 0% balance transfer card:j
Sometimes banks need to be reminded as to who they actually work for if they want to keep our business.0 -
bl00dy banks, more money than sense
sorry bit lame
its not a laughing matter is it really so so
sorry:)I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
Just going through the account now.
I can confirm they are charging £38 for a unpaid DD.
Total for 1 months charges is £635.
8 direct debits so on average each one tried twice.
The charge was taken out on the same day the payment was canceled.
If I had of though on I shouldnt have put my money in there this month, as I've now lost £635 of my wages. Infact thats all of my partners wages for the month as she only works part time.0 -
