Sorry if in wrong place, please move if needed
My husband has moved out of our house, basically I decided that after a bit of a carp year (dad died of lung cancer, mum diagnosed with ovarian cancer all within a couple of weeks and just family life getting me down) that I want to be on my own for a while with just the kids and my mum to concentrate on. The kids are 7(DS) and 4(DD)
I have done all that I thnk I can do, sorted Income Support, Council Tax, Council Tax Benefit, Housing Benefit, Housing Appliaction, and Tax Credits...All of which I am waiting to hear the outcome for.
Now the problem I have is all the outgoings, how on earth am I supposed to keep up.
My main ones are each month:
-Rent 515
-Food Not sure how much this should now be as only 3 of us
-Clothing As and when
-Electric 18
-Gas 22
-CCCS DMP 105
-Council Tax Not sure of the new amount
-TV Licence 12 ish
-Petrol 60ish
-Car Ins 37
My mum does help me out occasionally with petrol as she lives 15 miles away and needs to be ferried about to appointments and shopping cos she came out of hosp last week and isn't allowed to drive for the next few weeks.
I am planning to go to college in September and do a bit of volenteering at the local nursery, hence thats my choice of course at college.
Any advice is much apprecited, I know I will have to call CCCS and do a review I am just not sure what to do...luckily OH is gonna pay the bills this month to tide us over but like I say I am just a bit in the dark about what to do next.

NOt much you can do SOA wise at the minute until you know what you'll be recievin benefits wise. It's very good of your husband to help you out til you get on your feet. Have you agreed maintenance with him yet?Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Hi Angel, it looks like the stuff you pay out is pretty reasonable so I guess a phone call to CCCS to explain the change in circumstances would be the best thing to do
Well done on your forthcoming return to college, whilst you're doing your course is it possible to do any paid work in that sort of thing or even babysitting for family/friends for a bit of extra cash?Money doesn't make you happy so I'm skint but cheerful :beer:0 -
Get on to CCCS and tell them your circs have changed and you wont be able to manage that much this month.
Is you landlord understanding? Can you write and let them know that your payment will be delayed? You dont have to give a reason.
Your council tax should be covered completely, so just make sure that CT section know there is a claim going through.
Can you cut the petrol right back until things are sorted? Is you mum on benefits? Could she claim back the petrol from the appointments? I know hospitals have this scheme, not sure about docs.
Foodwise you will probably be looking at about £150 pm for 1 adult and 2 kids, to include toiletries, cleaning stuffs etc. I confortably manage on £200 pm for 2 adults and 3 kids, so there could be scope to get yours right down.0 -
Let people know, that's the main thing. Are you getting child maintanance?
The council tax should be told you are waiting for a claim and you get single persons discount now you are the only adult living in the house which should be 25% off I think anyway.
Good luck

Thank you so much for the replies, it really is appreciated.
when I had my appt with the jobcentre to confirm my claim, I was told that I can't get child maintanence separate because it is included in the income support. I got a bit confused really. Apparently OH will basically be paying my income support. Does that make sense??
£150 sounds fair for groceries and stuff for the 3 of us as we don't tend to eat a lot.
Am also gonna try to do some meal planning, to make sure I am not using too much money on food that I already have in the cupboard.Proud to be me, proud to be who I am!!0 -
