Because lard isn't exactly the healthiest option!0

Sometimes there is a place for Lard. It certainly isn't the healthiest option, but I now keep a block of solid vegetable oil in the fridge for baking 'savoury stuff'.
I can remember my mum really telling me off for using a block of Stork to make a pastry crust to go on the top of a savoury dish - her rule was Stork for sweet dishes and Lard for savoury ones!0 -

Compared to what
If you're making pastry, you'll need fat, and a natural fat such as lard is no worse that a processed fat which will in all likelyhood contain trans-fats.
If you're worried about your health, just eat less of the best quality ingredients
IMHO, butter and lard is the best choice for pastry :T:A

Hi Norman
I'm off to Epernay to buy champagne. We get it from a small, family run champagne house. It's not cheap, cheap but mainly we enjoy the experience and the mini-break. I had noticed that there don't seem to be offers as such in France but I didn't realise it was against the law. Does that apply to Lidl's too?
Hope you see this Maman x
Ooohhh sounds lovely - have a fab trip x
I guess the loss leaders thing applies to Lidls as well, I can't see why they would be an exception ... Lidls/Aldis certainly don't have the Super 6 offer that I've read about on here <boo>
Have fun and enjoy your champagne
