Just wanted to let everyone know that I intend to be mf by July this year, I am cashing in the endowment, and some pensions we have and paying off our mortage in full, well except for £300 which we need to leave outstanding until the end of our current deal.
I am sick and tired of all the speculation about how the interest rates are going either up or down, how the stock markets are going to fall due to the economical catastrephe we are about to experience, and how the cost of living is going sky high, doom and gloom everywhere, so i have decided to sod it all, and cash everything in pay off the mortgage and bank the rest.
And I have to say it feels great to say the least, I feel liberated and I cant bloomin wait. :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j

Hi mrsmoneypenny9,
You cannot actually cash in a pension, you are locked in until you retire.

I'm vitually there too. I went into Nationwide yesterday and we currrently owe £822. So after the next payment in a fortnight, I'm going in and ending the direct debit and paying off the rest. I will probably leave £1 in, so that Nationwide can keep our Title Deeds for a while.
It's taken just over 2 years (this was when we decided to go for it, after worries about the investment part of the mortage), during which time we have paid about £400 a month mortgage, and a few thousand here and there. Having the money will be a nice!
I'll still be a bit of a tightwad though! Well, you've got to be havent you?0 -
