Hi everyone.
I've got a fairly simple question....but a long story attached to it!
About 2 months ago I ordered a tapestry (for my Nan!) online from Stitcher.co.uk for £25.99. 3 to 4 weeks later my Nan hadn't received it, so I checked my online banking and they'd debited my account 3 days after I ordered the tapestry. I e-mailed them straight away, and they apologised......they had sent me an e-mail saying that particular tapestry had been discontinued and would I like another one, or a refund. Unfortunately I didn't make it through my spam filter.
Anyway, I found another one that would be suitable, but it cost an extra £24 (£49.99). It was ordered and agreed with the company that they would deduct the additional £24 from my card. Happily, the tapestry arrived and my Nan was happy. Unfortuntately, after checking my online banking last night I noticed the cheeky so-an-so's had taken the full £49.99 a couple of weeks ago! (No sign of a £24 refund though)
I therefore, e-mailed them last night, and got the following response....
'The business changed hands on the 1st of May, I have forwarded your email to
Catharine and I'm sure she will be able to refund you the overpayment as
soon as possible.'
I'm not a legal expert, so wonder if it is the current owners who owe me the money, who I presume took on the company as a going concern, or whether I need to track down the previous owner?
Any advice is as always greatly received.
Thanks
Kathryn

It sounds like the business has been sold as a going concern. Stitcher are a well known retailer with an excellent reputation, I am sure that you will get your refund from them xGone ... or have I?0

Thanks. I totally agree, but as it only happened this week I wasn't sure which route to go down first. I haven't got the previous owners e-mail address now, but will give her a few days to see if she replies to my e-mail (that was forwarded to her from Stitcher). If not I'll go back to Stitcher.
