xbox 360 joypad problem

Got my 360 last october from argos funnily enough and everything was great until yesterday when my bundled joypad just went dead.

after trying brand new batteries I have come to the conclusion its died. It won't power up.

so i contacted microsoft and i am now in the process of waiting for them to get back to me but in the meantime if i get no joy from them can i take just the joypad back to argos( still have the receipt and box etc for the 360) and get a replacement or does it have to be the whole 360? even then would argos even give me a replacement pad.

any advice from anybody that had a similar experince would be grateful. cheers.

Argos will not take back the joy pad or any other part of the Xbox, you will have to wait for microsoft

consumer law is that the contract of sale is between yourself and the retailer. take it back to argos and they should sort it. they may try n say they dont take them back but you are still covered by your statutory rights. www.tradingstandards.gov.uk will give you more info.

    nope none at all.

still waiting on microsoft, been passed about something daft and they keep wanting pretty much the same info to "investigate".

if nothing is resolved with them by the weekend i'm taking the whole thing back to argos on monday to see what they say.

MS technical support are an absolute joke in my experience. Save yourself the waiting and get off to Argos today.

Yes this is true but does not guarantee an instant replacement/refund. If you kick up a big fuss all the duty manager might do would be to take the faulty part(s) off you and ring MS technical support him/herself.

This isn't Argos being awkward, this is because Microsoft and Sony will not deal with retailers (or at least Argos) directly. If you read that website it will say that entitlement to refund/replacement depends on the amount of time you have had the item, and if there is a repair facility available then they are within rights to send it to the manufacturer.

So if you're desperate you could try that, but as someone on this forum once said (can't remember who said it but it was a good quote!) - if you kick up a fuss and start shouting your rights then managers will go out of their way not to help you!

    Hope this is of help.

P.S. where did all the nice weather go?? :D
