mortgage application advice needed

All I have a quick couple of questions concerning a mortgage application. I'm due to see a broker next week and as I'm a FTB I'm not sure how to maximise the information I give. My partner can't work and is on benefits and we can't afford more than a 5% deposit. I'm asking because I don't have a 100% spotless credit report. (Two late payments form 2006-2007) Sadly there is nothing I can do to change that but I don't think it's too bad. I also have two outstanding credit agreements for small amounts that are due to end in December which should help increase my rating then.
I don't intend to lie or commit fraud but can anyone tell me if there are honest ways of increasing the attractiveness of an applicate to a bank? Job title, declaring shares, investments, pension details, overtime, set pay rises etc?

The broker will go through a fact find. he (if he is good) will pull all the info from you and its his job to present your case in a positive light!
Iw ould not worry and talk to him first. Not many lenders are taking risks at 95% LTV which kind of makes his job easier. You may find your overall score is ok, it how you profile gets along with the lenders own scoring system.
