DMP's and becoming an accountant??

Morning all. I've just posted this in the Mortgage section!

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction!

We entered into a DMP last year and its really working out well for us. However, my husband is currently studying to become an accountant and is due to qualify next year. Someone has mentioned that the ACCA will not allow him entry if he has a DMP. I have searched and searched for some information on this to no avail!

If anyone could offer any advice at all, it would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

I think he's done the hard part and got the trainee accountant role...

I suspect that he'll be fine as long as he isn't CCJd, BR or IVAd...

That's what I'm hoping! He's just worried that when he qualifies and applies to become a member they boot him out due to the DMP. Someone has mentioend that perhaps an IVA would be more likely to cause problems but I have no idea why!

an IVA is far closer to BR and being a BR does not go well being an accountant!

As far as I know if you are Bankrupt or on an IVA (basically insolvent) then you can't study professional accountancy qualifications ..

(Saying that though, my job title is European VAT Accountant so what do I know )

Does that mean that he is ok with a DMP then? Where on earth can I find out about this? He contacted the ACCA to ask but they require full details of him first and you just know that they will look into further and stop him joining if its a no go.

If he cannot join the ACCA with a DMP we really need to know now so that we can come off it and perhaps do our own DMP.
