Newbie here - hello

Hello everyone

Just thought I would take this opportunity to introduce myself, I have been reading the site for about four weeks now and I have got to say it is absolutely brilliant, some posts are inspirational.

Here’s my story, I guess it is fairly run of the mill. I have spent the last 7 years at university training to be a solicitor and ended up thousands in debt.

At one stage last year the position was

Halifax Overdraft £2600
Sainsbury’s Credit Card £1700
Barclaycard £750
HSBC Overdraft £1500
Professional Studies Loan £6300
(plus my student loan is about £10,000 but not dealing with this at the mo)

So in total debt = £12850 private loans
Student Debt = £10,000

I decided to start hacking away at the loan, sold my house for a £25,000 profit and used some of the money to pay mine and wife’s debts, started up a budget etc and things are going well. Everything now stands at:

Professional Studies Loan = £5143
Sainsbury’s Credit Card = £paid!
Barclaycard = £paid!
HSBC Overdraft = £1269
Halifax Overdraft = £500

Total Debt = £6917.43.

Plan is to be debt free by November 2009 – wish me luck and good luck everyone who is trying!
Lightbulb Moment : March 2008 @ £7512.77
Total Debt : [strike]£6912.77[/strike] [STRIKE]£6512.77[/STRIKE] [strike]£5987.00 [/strike]
[STRIKE]£3701.00[/STRIKE] [STRIKE] £1,150[/STRIKE] £357.00
