christening cake

Hi guys

I'm after a bit of advice if that's ok. I'm on the look out for a christening cake that doesn't cost the earth! It's for my little boy who is 10 months old. I live in Essex so if anyone knows of a good cake maker with reasonable prices or alternatively some nice decorations I can "do up " a tesco celebration cake with, I'd be really grateful. I don't want to bake my own as I want it to be perfect and my cakes always have that rustic, done it yourself look lol

How about one of the picture ones? Asda and Tesco both do them. If not, just a plain iced one (M & S?) and go to a cake decorating shop (or bakers) and buy a crib or other decorations?
I made my son's cake, and it wasn't fancy. I used icing pens (Like felt tips) to write his name and the date on, added some blue silk flowers, and it looked fine. That was 18 years ago tho!!
    Goos luck with it anyway.

Our local cake shop will make little plaques to just pop on top of your cake and it could be personlised for you. If you visit a cake shop I'm sure they will help you design the top of your cake. This way you don't have to buy the whole cake from them as this can be expensive but it will still look like you have!
