The BR Protection Fund?

Had a letter a few days ago from 'The Bankruptcy Protection Fund Limited' in Manchester, claiming they can help me with my upcoming meeting with OR (which is next week).
Has anyone had any dealings with them, and if so, is it worth me pursuing it?
When me and my wife have our (face to face) meeting with the OR next week, dreading it a bit, although I have nothing to hide, they will obviously ask me the reason I went BR. It really is all down to the cost of living, however I know they don't like to hear that, or accept that as a genuine reason...is there some sort of 'stock' answer that i can give? My job did play a part in some way as it was commission based, and I flitted around a bit to try and improve my situation, however it did not work out. I am now in a job where I get a 'set' wage, all be it not as much as I was earning before..would that be a good enough reason to give them?

I haven't dealt with them, but I'd say don't bother making contact. They won't tell you anything we can't, & we're free & willing.Had a letter a few days ago from 'The Bankruptcy Protection Fund Limited' in Manchester, claiming they can help me with my upcoming meeting with OR (which is next week).

Seriously, meeting the OR isn't exactly a picnic but it's not something you need their help with either. I only had a telephone interview, but I'm sure those who had a face-to-face interview can give you some pointers on what to expect. I suggest you do a separate thread headed "Did you have a face-to-face interview with the OR?", say that you've got yours coming up & ask people for feedback on how theirs went. I'm sure you'll get some replies.

Hi Nomunny,
You really don't help from these people.
We had a face-to-face interview, it's just the way our OR office (Southend)does it. To be honest it was fine, I was so nervous before hand, almost in tears when we were called into the interview room, but by the end of it I had a huge smile on my face. They were so understanding and didn't judge us one bit. We went in together and sat holding hands the whole way through. Although our letter said 2-3 hours we were out within 50 mins.
Don't worry about the reason you ended up BR, they're not interested in 'stock' answers, they just want the truth, I promise they'll think nothing less of you if you say that your commission based job didn't pay as well as you thought it would and you committed beyond your means, if that's the truth they have to accept it, if you make stuff up they'll see through you. You'll be fine, just be honest.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I'd agree with everyone else...I had 2 letters from the same firm...very absorbant soak up the cats tray mess a treat
dont worry about a face to face interview..I had one back in March & to be honest felt better afterwards preferred doing that to a telephone interview..at the end of the day they're just doing a job & seen cases like you many many times before & probably many after...once its all over & done you'll wonder what all the fuss was about...trust me!We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -

:rotfl: I should have done that- Im sure my kitty would have loved to wee all over them. I got a glossy brochure with some guy in it looking very glum at presumably being made/going bankrupt- looked very like the the guy who turned up on my doorstep and went on about my bankruptcy before I slammed the door in his face.0 -
Thanks everyone for the advice everyone, you are right...this is the only place to be on the forums here, I have had good sensible advice and it's made me feel a lot better about the whole process. I will let you know the outcome at OR's next week.
