hi all, can anyone out there give me some advice for my friend?
My friend suffers from ocd, which in a nut shell caused him and his girlfriend to split up after only a year of living together. My friend has got so ill again he just had to get out of everything, (his girlfriend didnt understand the problem and had transformed into what i can only describe as a slob, leaving him to clean for hours- sounds great but it isnt!) and move back with his parents. He doesn't want anything, nothing from their joint account, sale of house, or their joint goods, however his girlfriend doesn't want to move out and sell the property. It had been arranged that they would take his name off the mortgage, deeds and utilities, and she would take over everything, however his girlfriend seems to have turned and now refuses to take him off anything. She point blank refuses to let him in the property, sell the property or anything else. I am quite worried as she seems to have got increasingly unstable (slightly physco) and i am scared she will rack up huge debts to spite my friend.
So.....
How can he get his name off everything without her agreeing to anything?
He desperatley needs help as all this stress from this and her now harrassing ways is causing his illness to become out of control, he is becoming a complete wreck as ocd is so debilitating to his normal life.
Any help much appreciated:D

To be removed from the mortgage, there needs to be consent from both and agreement from the lender so both people are responsible for the debt.
With regards to bills etc. He is more that within his rights to call them if he has the details and state that he no longer lives there and that person living there is X. The bills should be finalised and started again just in her nameI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. This is what i feared but she is being completly unreasonable. He has ven contacted her parents ,as they had ben involved when he moved out and can see what their daughter is doing to him, they have even said they can't do anything as she wont even listen to them.
at a worst case senario:
If he point blank refuses to pay his half of the mortgge and writes to the mortgage company explianing the situation what will happen? the mortgage falls into arrears and is finally reposesed? this would leave his credit history in tatters for 6 years but would mean he might actually survive this without cracking up.0 -
His only option is to get a court order to force the sale of the property. He could put it on the market without this, but if someone buys it, the sale won't complete without her signature on the contract.

I had a similar issue with my ex, solicitors letters were sent but the threat of repossession finally made him sell the house.
He needs to call all of the companies that he is named on and finalise the accounts. I called my mortgage company and advised them of the situation, they explained to me that there was little point in me paying half of the mortgage if the other half isn't going to be paid. It now comes up on my credit file as being queried - I don't know how this may affect future mortgage applications, I haven't tried. Of course she may just pay the mortgage if she wants somewhere to live.Debt free by Dec 2011

If she continues to pay the mortgage that means he will still be on the deeds and he will have problems in the future if she suddenly stops paying or if he wants to buy a property himself.
I guess she has been to the bank and been told she cannot afford the mortgage herself on her own, so cannot remove him. So only option is selling up.
Personally just stop paying the mortgage. Also write letters by registered mail to the lenders and the bank accounts, utilities and get himself removed so that he can protect himself. With request of confirmation that this has been done by them.
Then she will be forced to sell up. His credit record will be shot for a while but I think that is the least of his worries. He can always stay at his parents and then rent for a few years until he is mentally and physically ready to start up again on his own.0
