Well, apparently if we are working over 21 hours each then it's not an issue?
Edit - Sorry, yes we've got 23 yrs left.That money talks - I can't deny,
I heard it once - it said 'goodbye'!

So in summary you want to get your payments down because you want to go part time! Get real !!!!!!. One or the other may be able to go Part Time but not both. You are just trying to get a lazy lifestile IMO.I am a Mortgage Consultant and don't like to be told what I can and can't put in a signature so long as it's legal and truthful.0

It's because we want to look after our kids, not because we're lazy. We're not going to be sat watching daytime tv, picking our noses. We've got two babies and we'd rather we looked after them than anyone else. We wouldn't both be off work at the same time. Would you think I was lazy if I wanted to be a sahm while my partner worked?
I don't want to reduce my payments just keep them affordable. That money talks - I can't deny,

I think what people have an issue with is:
1) Regarding £36K as a low income, and
2) The fact that you think it is ok for you to look after other people's children, but not for other people to look after yours? Big (read: HUGE) double standard there.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Blimey, I think you are being very harsh to a brand new poster, who is asking for advice on what her family have chosen to do, not criticism on their choices!
MissKay, I wish I could help but I can't sorry.......good luck with it though

It's not a double standard. It's just a bit daft if I'm looking after someone else's children and paying someone to look after my children at the same time. Why don't I just cut out the middle man and look after my own children?
About the £36k, low income is relative and it's lower than we are used to. I don't think teachers are spectacularly well paid. That money talks - I can't deny,
I heard it once - it said 'goodbye'!
