Polling clerks

Excuse me as a newcomer if this has been mentioned before but a good way of earning money once a year is as a polling clerk at elections. I do it every year and this year on May 1 I got £96.00. You do have to at the polling station at 06:40 and you do not leave until 10.00 but its easy money. Just apply in writing at your local town hall or council.

hi.
i had applied for this first time this year after reading a thread on this mse forum.
i wasn't selected for any of the work-poll clerk, postal vote counter etc.
I heard they only priortise people who are council employees...Assalamu alaikum. May Allahs blessings be upon you0 -
I thought you had to be a council employee. Is that no longer true ?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

I know they offer this to employees and their friends and family first as I used to count the votes for our local elections as my mum works for the council. The pay is pretty good so I assume most of the positions get taken up fairly quickly.0

No you don't have to be a council employee - I work in an office, the man who supervises me has his own business, another man is retired and was a car salesman and the other man is also retired but was a council employee. So out of the four of us that do the same station each year only one had a council connection.
Its boring believe me but easy money and when you need extra money like I do....................November 2010 - a Jamie Oliver book
