Just Filed For Bancruptsy - Official Receivers what do I expect?

 Hello, I am new to this forum and I just wondered if any of you good people could offer me a little advice.
This week my husband and I finally filed for bancruptsy after a hideous 5 years that started with my husbands business partner ripping us off, my 3 year old son had a very bad head injury and then my self employed husband became seriously ill. Needless to say all this had a mammouth impact on us and we ended up with 30k debt.
The positives for us was that we are still renting and had no assets to speak of so the upshot is that all that we are losing are our debts. When I went before the judge I imagined that she would be fairly scathing given the fact that I was filing for bancruptsy but I could not of been more wrong, she told me I had been very brave and that the last five years must of been horrendous for me, I certainly didnt expect her sympathy but I think it helped that non of our debts were due to overspending, just debts that we were happily managing until our lives were turned upside down.
Anyway, now I have given you some background I am waiting to hear from the official receiver and I wondered what this would entail and what information I will need when I am called to see them?
Any help is gladly accepted.
Thank You.

  • Hiya Mrsh,

Well done in taking the first step, but I think the bankruptcy board would be a better place for his, they really know their stuff there! You can find it here:

  • Hi, Mrsh, i think you may need to post this on the Bankruptsy board Hun. The wonderful folk on there will be far better at answering your questions. Good luck x
