huge problem with polished table

hi
my table in the lounge is a highly polished one which will does take kindly to heat or water drips.
i usually clean it with mr sheen etc but i now have a huge problem.
there is a massive amount of smears and a dull finish and no amount of product is having an effect.
i have tried wood cleaner but to no avail.
please help.

Hi, it is probably the build up of polish making it dull. You could try this old fashioned remedy, a wipe down with vinegar/water mix, [I usually add a cap full of vinegar to a pudding basin of water] imerse a cloth then wring it out until damp, use this to wipe the table, test it on a bit that is not in full view first [top of legs], the acid in the vinegar removes all the polish build up. Let it dry then use a beeswax polish [Carr Day & Martin do a lovely one in a little round tin, smells divine]. I do this about every 6 months, as you should not apply polish to wooden furniture more often, or so I have been told simply dust on between0
